The OAF’s Annual Celebration and Grants Announcement takes place Oct. 25
by Rebecca Seymour
The Oconomowoc community was filled with exuberant merrymaking throughout the summer as the community celebrated the 85th anniversary of the premiere screening of the iconic “Wizard of Oz” in 1939.
The Oconomowoc Area Foundation hopes to keep this last summer’s celebratory spirit alive with its Annual Celebration and Grant Announcements at 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 25, at The Golden Mast Inn on Okauchee Lake.
The community foundation is grateful to have the opportunity to award a record amount of more than $308,000 in grants to 34 area nonprofit organizations impacting the greater Oconomowoc community. Since its inception in 2002, we have awarded nearly $5 million dollars to more than 130 nonprofits.
The event will include a cocktail hour where nonprofits receiving this year’s grants are invited to host information tables, a gourmet sit-down meal, musical performances by the Oconomowoc Community Choir and Oconomowoc Community Theatre, a spotlight presentation by the Oconomowoc Historical Society, and more.
Each year, the OAF awards grants to organizations that serve communities within the Oconomowoc Area School District. Our mission is to support programs focused on caring for children, families, and the elderly, developing youth, helping those in need, preserving the environment through conservation, restoration, and education, and enriching the community through economic, cultural and arts development.
The mission of the OAF is to grow community giving for lifetimes to come. The seeds we plant today will grow and flourish forever – for our children and grandchildren and for generations. There truly is no place like Oconomowoc!
