The Oconomowoc Area Foundation is honored to support and help uplift nonprofit organizations focused on causes for improving the greater Oconomowoc area, including caring for children, families, and the elderly, developing youth, helping those in need, preserving the environment, and enriching the community through the arts and cultural programming.

The Lake Area Free Clinic (LAFC), located at 856 Armour Rd. in Oconomowoc has been a valuable community resource for 22 years. Since 2001, the nonprofit has been providing medical services to residents of Waukesha County who lack health insurance and the ability to pay for health care. Over the past 22 years, thousands of people in need have received medical care, medication and practical information needed to improve and maintain their health.

The LAFC estimates there are 16,000 Waukesha County adults who are medically uninsured. In 2022, the medical clinic had 187 new patients, and 72% of all LAFC patients were at the Federal Poverty Level ($14,580 for a single person) or below.

After identifying a glaring lack of access to preventive and basic dental services for low-income Waukesha County adults who were on BadgerCare/Medicaid or uninsured, LAFC opened its dental clinic in late 2017. Since that time, the LAFC Dental Clinic has delivered compassionate, high quality dental care and support in a highly efficient environment with a dedicated staff of dental professionals.
