The OAF welcomes back Nate Zastrow to its board of directors
by Rebecca Seymour
Nate Zastrow is well-known for his years serving on the Oconomowoc Area Foundation’s board of directors, including in the role as board chairman from 2014-2019. Even after Nate stepped off the board, he continued to share his knowledge of the OAF’s mission and purpose by assisting the OAF’s grants committee.
When he heard that three long-time OAF board members, Susan Bickler, Brian Ewald, and Lou Morgan had fulfilled their two-terms of service and were leaving the team at the end of 2023, Nate was quick to raise his hand for another chance to serve the OAF in this way.
“I am honored to rejoin the OAF board. It is a great organization positively impacting hundreds of charities in Oconomowoc. The individuals on the board, donors and non-profits are passionate community leaders. I look forward to adding my time, treasure, and talent … and I get to hang around with OAF board member and Oconomowoc Citizen of the year, Kevin Pehler!” said Nate.
Nate is a lifelong resident of Oconomowoc. He and his wife Kristie, have two teenagers – Maximus and Augustus (he actually won the naming rights in a pinball game in Key West, FL).
Nate is an Executive at Bank Five Nine. He has spent his entire 30-year career at the bank, starting as a teller. Nate is passionate about community banking, economic development, and philanthropy – be it time, treasure, or talent.
Nate was heavily involved in the reformation of downtown Oconomowoc, especially acting as the OAF liaison to complete the Boardwalk on Fowler Lake. Nate has served on multiple non-profit boards including two-time Past President of the YMCA, Rogers Foundation, founder of Waukesha Center for Growth, expansion vision committee for Oconomowoc High School and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc.
At one point he was a member of six boards leading four of them as President. Nate loves giving back to the Oconomowoc Community and as result was named Citizen of the Year in 2019.
Welcome back, Nate!
