We are really excited about the renewed purpose and community involvement initiatives of the OAF Impact Team! Because we want to raise more awareness of the OAF through “Making an Impact” in our community, we worked to create an Impact Team logo.

We reached out to Oconomowoc High School teachers, Mike Krill and Danielle Bukal to connect us with some creative students to collaborate on the creation of a new logo. They teach a class called AP Seminar Digital Communications that is designed to give students an environment “that provides a professional work culture, mentorship from local professionals and real-world problem solving opportunities” and helps to improve college and career readiness.

We met with OHS seniors Max Cull and Evan Abts in early May and shared the mission of the Impact Team. We told them this team would be ‘hands-on’ in the community – visiting and learning more about the nonprofits that the OAF supports, as well as volunteering our time to work along with them during select events. We asked them to incorporate the original OAF logo in their design, as well as include our slogan, Making an Impact.

Seniors Evan and Max present their prototype logo

It didn’t take Evan and Max long to come up with their first draft of the logo that featured two hands lifting up the OAF logo with our slogan underneath. We’ll admit, it took our breath away. We provided some feedback about colors, size and design and after a couple of tweaks, our new logo emerged! The students were so engaged and professional and truly seemed interested in being involved in our project. What a wonderful experience for all of us.

The new Impact Team logo is featured on string bags that we will hand out with our new OAF brochure at upcoming events. We sponsored a table at the Oconomowoc Farmers Market in June, and on July 11, we’ll be at Moonlit Movies in Fowler Park. Stop by and say “HI!”
